The school day at FCC begins with class devotions. Devotions consists of prayer, worship and Bible teaching and is designed to connect the heart of every student to the reality of God’s love for them.
In addition to daily devotions, each class enjoys a weekly Bible and Christian Living lesson and a fortnightly Chapel service led by one of the College Chaplains.
Through Health and Physical Education, students learn how to enhance their health, safety and wellbeing and to contribute to building healthy, safe and active communities.
Each class engages in a daily fitness session and weekly Health and Physical Education lessons. All students are involved in the annual athletics and swimming carnivals and have the opportunity to participate in a variety of inter-school athletics carnivals too.
Primary school students also participate in annual swimming lessons which take place at one of the local leisure centres.
Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) is the study of human behaviour and interaction in social, cultural, environmental, economic and political contexts.
Students develop a deep knowledge and sense of wonder, as well as a curiosity and respect for places, people, cultures, events, ideas and environments through the HASS curriculum.
Fremantle Christian College is pleased to offer Mandarin Chinese as its language other than English. Learning Mandarin Chinese prepares students to live and work in a multi-cultural society and to converse with the largest population in the world.
Fremantle Christian College focuses on building a firm foundation for literacy and numeracy in the early primary years.
In Literacy, students are provided a natural progression from their learning in the Kindergarten and Pre-primary years and are supported to gain ongoing accuracy in reading, spelling and writing through learning grammar and punctuation. With a strong emphasis on comprehension skills, we point the way forward from literal, to deductive and evaluative thinking.
Competency in Mathematics is gained through a whole-school approach to hands–on problem-solving. This is supported through the implementation of a top quality maths program across primary, enabling students to gain essential mathematical skills and knowledge.
FCC’s programs are designed to help students develop an interest in science as a means of expanding their curiosity and encouraging them to explore and ask questions about the changing world in which they live.
The curriculum supports students to grow in their understanding of important science concepts and processes, develop their understanding of scientific knowledge and begin to make informed decisions about local, national and global issues. It will provide the building blocks for them to pursue science-related careers if they so choose.
In an increasingly technological and complex world, it is important to develop knowledge and skills to analyse and creatively respond to design and/or digital challenges.
Through the practical application of technologies including digital technologies, students develop dexterity and coordination through experiential activities. Technologies motivates young people and engages them in a range of learning experiences that are transferable to family and home, constructive leisure activities, community contribution and the world of work.
The Arts have the capacity to engage, inspire and enrich all students, exciting the imagination and encouraging them to reach their creative and expressive potential. At FCC students develop appreciation for The Arts by engaging in drama, dance, visual arts and music in a variety of contexts.
Each class participates in a weekly Art lesson and a weekly Music lesson taught by specialist teachers. In addition students have the opportunity to participate in the College Choir and Instrumental Music Program, which provide exciting opportunities for students to discover and develop their musical talent.
